Fire Suppletion System

8 Common Parts of a Kitchen Fire Suppression System

A commercial kitchen fire suppression system includes several essential components that work together to detect, contain, and extinguish fires quickly and safely. Below are the most common parts found in a standard NFPA-96 compliant system:

Heat-sensitive links designed to melt at specific temperatures, triggering the suppression system automatically.

Allows staff to activate the fire suppression system manually in an emergency.

A specialized liquid extinguishing agent formulated to suppress grease fires and prevent re-ignition.

The mechanism that activates when a fusible link separates or a manual pull station is used, releasing the agent.

Automatically shuts off gas flow to cooking equipment when the system is triggered, preventing additional fuel to the fire.

Stores the extinguishing agent under pressure until activated.

Hold system components securely in place such as cylinders, piping, and detection lines.

Spray the extinguishing agent directly over cooking appliances, ductwork, and hoods.
